MIKEYBEADS

Handcrafted bracelets made with love.

Michael M. Hicks

The Designer

Michael M. Hicks, Esq., a retired attorney from Washington, D.C., is the person behind Mikeybeads.

  • Mikeybeads evolved from a lengthy journey which began as I searched for another mode of physical therapy to improve use and dexterity of my body because of injuries I sustained in a car accident. With the encouragement and support of my wife, Loretta, I was introduced to jewelry making. I took lessons from Donna Carrion, an Artist, Jeweler and Metalsmith who opened an untouched world.

  • My wife and I decided to honor our son and established The Jacob M. Hicks Memorial Foundation. The different bead on each artistic creation pays our homage. I will design and create your bracelet, anklet or necklace. Please feel free to designate the different bead to honor one of your loved ones.

  • As people acquire jewelry, we ask that they make a financial donation to one or more of the listed charities. In addition, please help someone derive benefits from your experiences.

  • Allow your wisdom an opportunity to effect social change by serving as a guidepost. Most of us are the recipients of support and encouragement. All of us should increase our commitment to help those in need and give particularly to those who are unaware of the importance of mentoring. Help someone.

The Foundation

Presently there exist two entities for which we encourage support: Hill’s Hitters Karate and The American Kidney Fund. Phillip Hill, the founder of Hill’s Hitters, started training Jacob when he was in elementary school. Jacob earned his Black Belt when he entered college.

This karate club instills confidence in young people, pushes academic excellence and teaches respect for others. Hill’s Hitters plans to use your contribution to financially assist students who would not be able to train in karate.

The next charity is The American Kidney Fund in recognition of Jacob’s late maternal grandmother who suffered from kidney disease and was a transplant recipient. Please reference that your donation recognizes The Jacob M. Hicks Memorial Foundation in honor of his grandmother Inez “Honey” Knox.
